Business Spotlight: July 2014

dragonmarsh

Located in the heart of downtown Riverside, DragonMarsh is a historical and spiritual store that provides ingredients for a modern lifestyle. The original concept of DragonMarsh took shape after owners Eric and Mora were introduced to a historical reenactment event by their daughter Misty. Vendors since 1986, Mora and Misty soon realized the need to expand. As stated by Eric, “we needed a permanent storefront as our hobby was taking over the house.” DragonMarsh now occupies a generous 2,600 square foot space in the historical Jackson Building on University Ave. across from Lake Alice Trading Company and Mission Tobacco Lounge.

DragonMarsh first served as a historical supply store for customers that wanted to do reenactment events. Its products and services later expanded to include a number of unique offerings such as aromatherapy (unscented and scented oils, creams, and soaps), Herbs and spices, teas, incense, candles, jewelry and costume accessories, giftware, fabrics, and spiritual items from all religious backgrounds.  A first time customer is greeted by a “Marshie” (A DragonMarsh sales representative) and introduced to a vast selection of products. DragonMarsh has its own line of teas, bath and spa products, and incenses and makes its own holiday gifts and hosts ‘make it-and take it’ craft classes for families. Misty Johnson is also an on-site minister that offers theme weddings and counseling.

In addition to providing specialty products and services, DragonMarsh is also very active in the community. The owners share their arts and crafts during the Riverside Zombie Crawl and the ‘Peep Show,’ an activity where kids can decorate and joust their favorite Peeps, has been a hit for families that attend the Downtown Easter Egg-Stravaganza. DragonMarsh also donates to the Mary S Roberts Pet Adoption facility and offers free classes to Riverside’s local colleges. DragonMarsh was also featured in the 2013 Destination Fall Fashion Show to showcase historical outfits and accessories.
