“Riverside Tour Guide” App Now Available

“Riverside Tour Guide” Application is Now Available in the Apple Apps Store!

This new mobile application brings the City of Riverside’s heritage to life for residents, visitors, teachers, and students traveling with smartphones and tablets. The application provides participants with fascinating information about the historic town’s downtown statues using advanced “geofencing” technology to push photos, audio, and text to them once they come within close range of each downtown statue. Simply click “Begin Tour” after the application is loaded to start your exciting walking experience. If you are unable to walk the tour, you can view the application’s statue list to experience a virtual tour of these beautiful monuments.

Application Requirements:

  •  Your device must run Apple’s iOS 7 to run the app.
  • You must have about 100 MB of free disk space to install the app.
  • You must have 3G, 4G, or a Wi-Fi connection to run the app.
  • You must press “OK” when prompted for Geo-location permission within the app.
  • The app runs in English and Spanish. (You can choose Spanish by using the Settings button after launching the app.)
  • Once the app is installed on your iPad or iPhone, touch the “Begin Tour” button and walk to each monument. Monuments will automatically “come alive” with audio, photos, and text.
  • If you are unable to take the physical tour, click “Statue List” and you can listen to the audio via a “virtual tour.”
  • The application is currently available on iPads and iPhones, with Android compatibility planned for the future.
  • The tour currently covers six statues in the downtown mall, with more monuments, statues, and historical sites coming soon!
